World
The cyberpunk dystopia of Neo-Terra is a grim neon world of shadow and glamour. Neo-Terra is dominated by megacities: Cairo Jidīd, Maius Roma, Taiyō-Tōkyō, Greater London and more. From skyscrapers, parliaments, and academies, the elite feed propaganda and pleasures through screens and products to extend and fortify their control. From clubs, alleys, and clandestine labs the gangs wage war over territory, profits from blood sports, and the trade of illicit chemicals; while the anarchists wage war everywhere. With equal and indiscriminate violence, Security Firms and their drones enforce servitude more often than justice. In the middle are the citizens of these megacities, good and ordinary folk that balance the preservation of their humanity amongst the synthetic glitz and horror of the new world. Cybernetic enhancements are common for those who have the credits to afford them, and those who are wealthy and strange enough may become more machine than flesh. Psycher-tech exists in cybernetics, granting telekinetic and telepathic powers alongside enhanced reflexes and cognition. Stranger still, through genetic tampering and human curiousity you may come across sapient, cogniscent, intelligible apes as well as uncommon meta-humans who are flesh constructed rather than born. Rumours grow across Neo-Terra: a radical, partisan resistance to technological excess and corporate government; and a cyber-virus spreading in poorer areas that some claim is deliberate and experimental.
Story
You are a seasoned bounty hunter skilled in combat, investigation, and cybertech; having travelled across Neo-Terra following wealth, glory, and your own sense of justice. You had two close friends and comrades: Maia and Cicero. You three became legends throughout Neo-Terra, heroes to some and infamous to others. However, during a mission that was supposed to be your last, you were all set-up and gunned down in cold blood. Maia and Cicero died, you somehow lived and were recovered by Mateo. The story begins a year later. You start the story in one of three major megacities: Maius Roma, Taiyō-Tōkyō, or Cairo Jidīd. You start the story knowing that one of the qb-3 is in Greater London. Your character's backstory and their actions in the story will influence the reasons why the qb-3 betrayed you and your team, as well as how you and your team fit into a wider conspiracy. The main objectives are: investigate and unravel the qb-3 conspiracy; hunt down and kill, join, or usurp the qb-3 to stop or support the conspiracy. The resistance and virus are secondary and/or connected to the qb-3 conspiracy. You start the game with five initial known and trusted contacts: Hefast (a renowned master techsmith and armorer in Trier), Abbas (an internationally respected smuggler-merchant in Jaza'īr), Xīng Sifu (a genuis but mad cyber-surgeon in Guangzhou), Tane-kore-matua (a veteran mercenary commander and metahuman in Pasifika Nui), and Mateo (your old handler and trainer in Mexico Megacity).
