The preindustrial planet Roa is earth-like with the addition of assorted fantasy creatures, races, and vegetation. Magic is a fundamental force on Roa, as are good and evil. Like those of Greek mythology, gods periodically intervene in mortal affairs. Mortals worship them according to their customs. The various sentients (humans, elves, dwarves, etc)occupy ancestral homelands. Rarely do individuals settle in the lands of another species, though trade and travel are common.

Story

This is a coming of age adventure that follows the general format Joseph Campbell described in The Hero with a Thousand Faces. You are a 12-year-old, human boy whose village has found itself plagued by misfortune. A sense of impending doom hangs in the air. The local priest has concluded that the village is cursed and the curse will spread across all of Roa if a champion is not found to locate its source and defeat it. You are chosen by an unmistakable sign from the gods.
