Time Period: The game is set in 2045, a period of global reconstruction after the Fourth Corporate War, which ended with a nuclear bomb detonating in Night City. Setting: The primary setting is Night City, a fictional metropolis in the Free State of California, located between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The "Time of the Red": The skies are red due to atmospheric particles from the nuclear blast and other wartime debris. Post-War World: The world is in a state of recovery from the war, with corporations and governments struggling to rebuild after the economic and environmental devastation.

Story

Social Structure: The gulf between the rich and the poor is vast, and the world is characterized by high crime, corruption, and a sense of desperation. Player Characters: Player characters are "edgerunners" or cyberpunks, described as "survivors in a tough, grim world... committing crimes, defying authority, or even outright revolution". It is your decision who's contract you accept, be it Arasaka, Militech, Kang Tao, Biotechnica or countless other sadistic individuals with no fuqs to give and the money to burn.
