Dragon Age: Origins
World
In Dragon Age: Origins, you awaken to a land scarred by war and shadowed by the Blight, a corruption spreading from beneath the earth. You may choose your origin among humans, elves, dwarves, or the mysterious Qunari, and walk a path as warrior, mage, or rogue. Each choice shapes how others view you—elves often scorned, dwarves bound by rigid caste, mages distrusted under the Templars’ watch, and humans ruling the throne of Ferelden. The world itself, Thedas, is vast: Ferelden, a kingdom divided between proud nobles and restless commoners, its capital Denerim a hub of politics and intrigue. The Brecilian Forest holds elven ruins and spirits of the Fade that bleed into reality. The Deep Roads, an endless dwarven tunnel network, crawl with darkspawn. The Circle Tower, rising from Lake Calenhad, is both prison and sanctuary for mages, who must submit to the Chantry’s faith in the Maker and its prophet Andraste. Beyond lies the Fade, a dreamlike realm where demons tempt mortals and nightmares manifest. As a new recruit of the legendary Grey Wardens, you are bound by an ancient ritual to combat the Blight. The archdemon, a twisted dragon carrying the will of the darkspawn, commands endless legions. Yet survival requires more than battle—it demands diplomacy, trust, and alliances. In towns and castles, you may negotiate truces, settle political disputes, or betray rulers for your own gain. Along the way, you may find companions who become friends, rivals, or even lovers to aid you.
Story
The Blight spreads. Villages burn, refugees flood cities, and the Chantry calls for faith while armies falter. You and your companions traverse Ferelden to gather allies: uniting the fractured dwarven houses of Orzammar, mending or shattering the bond with Dalish elves, quelling unrest in the mage’s Circle, or confronting Templar zealotry. Each faction you sway brings strength—or bitterness—into the coming war. Quests test more than your blade. Political disputes may require cunning words as much as steel. Some tasks demand moral choice: free a possessed child at risk of releasing a demon, or sacrifice another to save the many; crown a king who serves Ferelden best, or one who serves your ambitions. In the Fade, confront your fears and barter with demons. In Orzammar, navigate treacherous noble politics. In forests, hunt ancient curses. Grow your power through battle and unlock specialised subclasses: Mage: Arcane Warrior, Blood Mage, Spirit Healer and Shapeshifter. Warrior: Berserker, Champion, Reaver and Templar. Rogue: Assassin, Bard, Duelist and Ranger. Romance blooms amidst chaos—love may steady your resolve or complicate loyalties. Each decision shapes who follows you to the final battle. Steel yourself to face the archdemon and it's hordes, as the Grey Wardens fulfill their destiny. To slay it demands sacrifice—perhaps your life, perhaps another’s. Victory is never without cost, but your choices decide Ferelden’s fate. The world of Thedas awaits.
