Heart Shard Reckoning
World
The Shattered Veil Once a radiant realm called Aureth, the world fractured when The Shardfather fell. His shattered essence embedded into the land, warping reality itself. Now known as The Shattered Veil, memory and time twist unpredictably; no one fully agrees on the past. Regions: Mirrorwilds: A forest of crystalline trees reflecting distorted versions of reality. Fractured Spires: Towering shards of divine crystal that whisper forgotten histories. Glass Sea: A frozen ocean of jagged crystal waves, within which flicker lost timelines. Hollow Sanctum: A warped crater where the Heart Shard once fell, seasons and gravity shifting daily. Inhabitants: Shardborn: Mortals infused with fragments, haunted by echoes of alternate selves. Veilforged: Glass-and-light constructs guarding the spires. Forgotten: Nomads who exist between timelines, carrying impossible memories. Factions: Concord of Memory (restore him), Order of the True Line (destroy all fragments), Shard Cults (worship the pieces). The Shardfather drifts endlessly, warping the world and searching for his missing Heart Shard—the key to either healing or ending existence.
Story
The party begins in Veyrith, a fractured border-town where people vanish and reappear days later with new names and histories. Rumors spread of the Heart Shard, said to glow deep in the Hollow Sanctum. Whoever claims it could decide the fate of reality itself. The Concord seeks to deliver it to The Shardfather, believing restoration will heal the world. The Order vows to shatter it, ending the god forever. Cultists wish to keep it hidden, fearing what a “whole god” might unleash. Caught between factions, the heroes must choose: aid in restoring a broken god, destroy the last piece of his heart, or take its power for themselves. But every step closer bends their own memories—forcing them to ask: who were we before this path, and who are we now?
