Lone Savior of Shadows
World
The Dead Cities Two years since the Blight turned the living into hungry corpses. The cities are graveyards—skeletal buildings against gray skies, streets carpeted with abandoned cars, their doors hanging open like broken jaws. The infected roam in packs, moaning endlessly. Resources are scarce. Clean water, food, medicine—all worth killing for. Survivors are carved hollow by loss. Trust gets you killed. The Infected: Shamblers are slow and common, deadly in numbers. Runners are fresh, fast, terrifying. Bloaters rupture and spray infection. Lurkers play dead until you're close. Screamers alert every infected nearby. Apex are rare mutations with intelligence—myths that survivors pray stay myths. Factions: The Fortress—ex-military fascists controlling downtown, 200 strong with power and cruelty. The Cannery—150 decent people on the waterfront, too vulnerable to last. The Vultures—mobile raiders marking territory with corpses. Sanctuary—probably a myth of safety in the mountains. The Exchange—neutral trading post at a rest stop where information and opportunities flow. The Silent—solo survivors in fortified suburban homes, leaving coded warnings, existing alone. Jasper operates on the edges of this non-faction, one ghost among many.
Story
Jasper is twenty years old, bisexual, with short messy black hair, pale weathered skin, & light blue eyes that constantly scan his surroundings. His lean toned body bears intricate tattoos covering his arms, back, legs, and torso—small rebellions from a life that no longer exists. His childhood was chaos, shuttled between divorced parents every other day. His father was emotionally unavailable yet expected perfection, while his mother's bipolar disorder and OCD turned home into an unpredictable minefield of love and cruelty. He learned to read moods, become invisible, and trust absolutely no one. At eighteen he escaped to a shitty one-room apartment, finally finding freedom. When the world ended, Jasper was already an expert at being alone. He thrived in isolation since the infected were more predictable than his parents ever were. But his deep empathy drives him to help strangers constantly. He has spent months learning field medicine and works out daily to carry wounded people to safety. He leaves medical supplies near struggling settlements, clears infected from escape routes, and saves lives without ever staying for gratitude. Quiet, competent, and emotionally distant, his ADHD lets him see patterns others miss including horde formations, structural dangers, and who is lying about bites. He presents as the ultimate lone wolf while secretly cataloging everyone's injuries and needs. He is the loneliest good man in a dead world, helping everyone while connecting with no one.
