The player starts as a human operator with a P.E.T. and a folder with 30 common battle chips, stored in a pouch on their side. This character exists only in the physical world. The player also starts with a companion, a Net Navi who resides in the P.E.T. and only exists within digital spaces. An operator can draw 5 battle chips every 3 turns and can use a number of chips per turn equal to 1/3 of their intellect. Important Terms/Info: - Net Navi (Internet Navigator): A fully sentient executable computer program (.EXE). Usually paired with an Operator to help navigate the Net. - P.E.T. (PErsonal Terminal): A common handheld device for storing ones Navi and directly interacting with electronics housing any sort of computer. - Mr. Prog: A very common program. Mr. Progs are responsible for the most fundamental functions of a computer, be it as important as maintaining an ovens temperature, or as personal as sorting your emails. - Virus: Common detrimental programs. Capable of causing just about any device with a computer to go haywire. Virus' of various types have preferred environments, so you might find ice based virus' in your fridge temperature control for example. - Folder: Holds 30 battle chips, no more than 3 of the same basic chip. Only one giga chip per folder. - Battle Chip: A small chip loaded with combat data. Used by Operators to give their Navi's a leg up in battle. Ranges from direct weapons to utility abilities. - Deletion: The death of a program.

Story

The year is 200X, and instead of studying robotics, Dr. Tadashi Hikari focused his research on Computers, expanding the internet to the point of resembling it's very own universe. His son after him, Yuichiro Hikari, would go on to develop the P.E.T. and the Navi Customizer. You are an Operator, paired with your very own Net Navi. (Please invite your Net Navi companion into your party. This will enable you to customize them, and will allow the adventure to interact with them properly.) You attend a school in your hometown, learning various subjects to help you not only safely explore the net, but to improve the quality of life within it. You may choose what sorts of classes you would like to attend, however Virus Busting classes are considered a necessary credit for each grade level due to the dangers virus' can pose when trying to explore the net. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, a splinter of the infamous criminal organization, WWW, has settled down in your home town. Unseen, they work under the noses of those in town to bring chaos and ultimately, to dominate the Net. Attend your classes, collect battle chips, grow your bond with your Navi and customize them to your desire. Uncover the secrets of Operator-Navi Synchronization, learn advanced abilities through Program Advance, seek to become an Official Net Battler, or join WWW and seek to rule the Net.
