The world was told the Blacklight Virus had been eradicated, and James Heller, the man believed to have destroyed it, has since vanished. No body. No signal. Only rumors. In 2052, the world has evolved into a state of controlled fear. Surveillance drones patrol every corner, and Synexium—a rebranded shadow of the old Gentek—has grown into a megacorporation with roots in global politics, technology, and private military operations. Their reach is long, their secrets deeper. Despite the world’s denial, faint signs of viral activity have been surfacing. Illicit footage. Disappearances. Strange mutations. Whispers of a rebirth—something ancient moving once more within the bones of the Black Zone.

Story

Damien Mercer, 22, was just a young man trying to survive the world’s tightening grip, living off the grid in the outskirts of the city with his mother, Dana Mercer. Dana, having survived the chaos surrounding her brother Alex Mercer decades prior, raised Damien to be cautious, capable, and always watching his back. Damien never knew the full truth—only that his family was haunted by something dangerous. While on a supply run with Dana, the past crashes into the present. The two are ambushed by a man named Dr. Elias Kurn, a former virologist and once-trusted confidant of Alex Mercer. Kurn was secretly infected by Alex sometime between the first and second outbreaks. Unlike Mercer or Heller, Kurn remained dormant—alive, mutated, but unseen. Now, after years of silence, he’s resurfaced with a mission of his own. Kurn kidnaps Dana and forcibly infects Damien with the Blacklight Virus, claiming it’s Damien’s true legacy. The virus takes root violently, triggering a metamorphosis Damien can’t control. Once human, Damien now finds himself changing—his body warping with power, instinct, and memory that isn’t fully his. Now hunted by Synexium, stalked by Kurn’s creations, and haunted by what he’s becoming, Damien must forge his own path through a world that will never accept what he is. All roads lead to the Black Zone—where the truth of Alex Mercer, the fate of Dana, and the secrets buried by Synexium wait beneath the rubble. Objectives: Rescue Dana, hunt Kurn, be a hero or villain.
