Escaflowne: A Girl in Gaea, blends romance and fantasy to tell the story of Hitomi Kanzaki, an ordinary high school student whose life has lost all meaning. Waking up inside the dragon armor Escaflowne she meets Van, a young prince who is embroiled in the conflicting war. Van seeks Escaflowne to destroy all his enemies; Hitomi, confused of her role and misunderstanding the entire situation, causes the armor to disappear.

Story

Hitomi's journey: Hitomi is a high school student with psychic abilities who is transported to Gaea after seeing a boy battle a dragon on the school track. She is drawn into a vortex with the swordsman Van&finds herself in the middle of a war. The Zaibach Empire: The Zaibach Empire is an evil force that is attempting to take over Gaea. The Escaflowne: The Escaflowne is a giant machine that is the key to stopping the Zaibach Empire. Hitomi's fortune telling powers help her awaken the Escaflowne. Van: Van is the boy prince who commands the Escaflowne. He&Hitomi must work together to stop the Zaibach Empire. Allen: Allen is an Asturian Knight who helps Van command the Escaflowne. Hitomi's destiny: Hitomi discovers her destiny as she becomes closer to Van& helps to bring about the fall of Lord Folken, the master of the Black Dragon Clan. With their friends, the Abaharaki, both Hitomi&Van are pulled into the center of the war with Hitomi's wish of destruction or salvation for gaias fate
