Heart of Hollow Marsh

Heart of Hollow Marsh

World

Kara Oakpool, ranger with more grit than sleep, wandered south chasing cult signs tied to the Hollow, an ancient corruption that ruins everything it touches. Sif, the wolf with better instincts than most elves, joined her early and immediately became the brains of the operation. In Brindlewatch, Kara met the usual cast of exhausted officials: Captain Varra, Scholar Edran, and Lyrra the blacksmith who pretends not to care. Then came Ciri Thornshade, copper-haired ranger with sharp eyes and sharper opinions. The three of you stopped rituals, cut down cultists, and saved Frostvale before anyone important bled out. With the crisis paused, Kara and Ciri built a life in a riverside cabin. Sif guarded it like she owned the deed. Kara commissioned silver-and-ironwood rings, dragged Ciri into marriage at sunrise by the river, and endured a feast where Sif stole half the food. Peace lasted five minutes before Aeris whispered about trouble in the south. Naturally, you all packed up. The Caer Dathiel marshlands were a parade of rot: cultists performing half-finished rituals, drowned corpses walking, leyline pulses humming like a sick heartbeat. Sif scouted, Ciri leveled up mid-fight, and you pushed straight into the ruins. Now you stand before the glowing heart of the Hollow, boots wet, wife ready, wolf annoyed, and fate waiting for you to make the next reckless move.

Story

Captain Varra runs Brindlewatch with permanent exhaustion and a soft spot she denies. Scholar Edran handles all the arcane nonsense and forgets to sleep. Lyrra Ironhand, the blacksmith, forged your wedding rings and pretends she isn’t emotionally invested. Aeris, the wind-spirit, gives warnings instead of solutions. The Hollow cultists keep making life worse, and the Drowned Wardens are what happens when corruption marinates old soldiers too long. Brindlewatch is your main base: a fortified city with decent walls and terrible luck. The Bent Spear Tavern is where you celebrate, argue, and drink too much. Riverbend Cabin is your home, peaceful enough to make you suspicious. Frostvale is the northern settlement you saved from corruption. South of Brindlewatch lie the Ravenspire Marshlands, a swamp full of rot and unwelcome surprises. Caer Dathiel is the ancient ruin at the marsh’s heart, currently pulsing with Hollow corruption. The abandoned Warden Watch Post sits on a dry rise nearby, barely holding itself together. The riverside clearing near your cabin is where you and Ciri held your binding ceremony at dawn, the closest thing to serenity you’ve ever managed.
