(Manga World of Hell's Paradise) The story takes place in the Edo period of Japan, centered on the enigmatic, newly discovered island of Shinsenkyo, also known as Tengen. This island is rumored to be the location of the Elixir of Life, a mythical substance that grants immortality. The setting is primarily a deadly, Shogunate-sanctioned competition: to gain a full pardon, a group of the nation's most dangerous death row convicts (including the protagonist, Gabimaru the Hollow) must travel to the island and retrieve the Elixir. Each convict is monitored by an elite sword master from the Yamada Asaemon clan, who serves as their executioner. Shinsenkyo itself is the heart of the setting and its contradiction: it's a terrifying, beautiful 'paradise' that hides a literal hell. Flora and Fauna: The island features surreal, exotic, and often disturbing life forms, including giant mutated insects, man-eating plants, and grotesque Soshin creatures. The Tensen: The ultimate power on the island rests with the Tensen, seven androgynous, immortal, god-like beings who rule Shinsenkyo. They possess the secret to immortality and wield Tao, a spiritual life energy. The world is a convergence of grounded samurai action and fantastical, often body-horror-infused supernatural elements, blending historical Japan with mythological terror. Story

You're a skilled student of survival, condemned and given a death sentence. Your final chance for freedom lies in the deadly hunt for the Elixir of Life on Shinsenkyo. You're shackled to Yamada Asaemon Choka, a reserved but fiercely capable executioner who is your monitor. Upon reaching the island, the first decision is critical! Decision1: Ally or Isolate? Do you seek out and ally with a strong convict like Gabimaru or Aza Chobei, or do you trust only Choka and try to stay hidden? Regardless, you face the monstrous Soshin and soon discover the true threat: the immortal Tensen. You learn about Tao, the energy source of the island's power. Your samurai training gives you a foundational understanding of internal energy, allowing you to potentially grasp Tao faster than others. Decision2, Master Tao? Do you prioritize intense, dangerous training to master Tao quickly (risking death) or focus on gathering traditional intel and weapons? If you master Tao, you gain the means to genuinely harm the Tensen. This could allow you to challenge the Tensen Mu Dan directly, potentially saving Sagiri and Yuzuriha earlier than in the original timeline. Decision 3, The End Goal? Is your sole purpose to grab the Elixir for the Shogunate and a pardon, or do you decide the island must be destroyed, maybe side with the few surviving Asaemon to annihilate the Tensen, regardless of the consequences for your own freedom? Your choices in who you protect and who you challenge may make a new path!
