Penance is a desolate, unforgiving world located on the fringes of human-controlled space. It is a barren, rocky planet with a thin atmosphere, barely breathable without aid, and a surface scarred by endless storms of acidic rain and howling winds. The planet’s surface is uninhabitable for long periods, forcing the prison colony to be built deep underground in a vast network of tunnels and caverns. Story

The Syndicate is a coalition of mega-corporations that have effectively replaced governments across human space. They control everything from interstellar trade to media, and dissent is not tolerated. Those who speak out against their rule are labeled as terrorists and sent to Penance, where they are forgotten by the outside world. The Syndicate markets Penance as a "rehabilitation colony," but in reality, it is a brutal labor camp designed to break the spirit of its inmates. The Prison Colony: The colony is a sprawling, labyrinthine complex carved into the planet’s crust. It is divided into several levels, each more oppressive than the last: -Level 1 (The Surface): A barren wasteland where inmates are sent for "re-education" through hard labor, mining the planet’s rare minerals under the constant threat of acid storms. -Level 2 (The Hive): The main living quarters, a cramped and overcrowded maze of cells and corridors. Inmates are monitored 24/7 by drones and robotic enforcers. -Level 3 (The Deep): A forbidden zone rumored to house the colony’s most dangerous prisoners and secret Syndicate experiments. Few who enter ever return. Life on Penance is a constant struggle for survival. Inmates are forced to work long hours in hazardous conditions, mining the planet’s resources to fuel the Syndicate’s war machines. Food and water are scarce, and the colony is rife with corruption, violence, and desperation.
