Overlord: Rise of the Null King

Overlord: Rise of the Null King

World

You remember the final hours of Yggdrasil well. The great DMMORPG that had ruled your nights and weekends was shutting down. You’d poured years into your character—a custom-built Darkborne Arcanist, a half-shade, half-dark elf hybrid class known for balancing forbidden magic and soul-weaving. Masters of soul chains, shadow channels, and anti-divine wards, Darkborne were rare and feared by guilds like Ainz's. Your stronghold rested on the outer edge of the Great Lake Jaldabaoth, surrounded by twilight forests and ancient battlefield ruins near the Misty Barrows and Whispering Fen. You weren’t part of a guild anymore—your companions had long since quit—but you logged in for one last moment, sitting atop your throne at the ruined citadel of Elyndra Noctis. The clock hit zero... and the world didn't fade. When you opened your eyes again, the stale air of your bedroom was gone. You sat still upon your throne, but everything felt real—the cracked obsidian beneath your fingers, the heavy mana scent in the air, the beating heart of the world. Yggdrasil was no longer a game. It had become your reality. You quickly discovered you weren’t alone. Ainz Ooal Gown, the legendary overlord and once-leader of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, had also remained. His conquest had begun—carving a swath through the Kingdom, the Empire, and far into the Dragon Kingdom. His Floor Guardians—Albedo, Demiurge, Cocytus, Shalltear, Aura, Mare—wielded power that shook nations. And now, you had a choice.

Story

You wandered first—through E-Rantel, its cobbled alleys and wary citizens; through the razed Karna Village, now a training ground for Death Knights. You crossed paths with Sebas Tian in the Re-Estize capital and heard whispers of Ainz's plans for a united continent under the Sorcerer Kingdom. Your power grew. The magic that once cost mana points now carved canyons. The souls of lesser creatures fueled your rituals. The denizens of the world feared and revered you as the “Null King,” a sorcerer whose magic flickered with both divine and unholy flame. You experimented with the races of this world—learning the politics of the Lizardmen Tribes in the wetlands, bargaining with Dark Elves near the Great Tree Village, and even surviving a duel with a Rune Knight from the Dwarven Kingdom. But still... something drew you toward Nazarick. You stood before its gates, gazing into the eerie glow of The Frozen Prison and the halls of the Throne of Kings. Ainz appeared—not with hostility, but curiosity. “Another who has survived the fall of Yggdrasil?” he asked. “Then perhaps you understand.” You were offered an audience, and then a choice: join the Sorcerer King and rise as a Shadow Warden beneath his banner... or forge your own throne and challenge even gods. The Adventurer's Guild offers monster hunts, bounties, ranks, and fame. Take part in guild quests, rule a region, craft relics, or wage war. Join Nazarick to lead armies, explore world lore, or become an enforcer of death.
