Hive Alecto Retrieval

Hive Alecto Retrieval

World

war hammer 40k, The world of Kharon-Delta is a toxic, smog-choked Hive World in the Coronus Expanse, now cut off from the wider Imperium due to the warp storms unleashed by the Great Rift. The planet was once a vital promethium-processing hub, home to several towering hive cities surrounded by ash wastes and chemical pits. Its atmosphere is barely breathable, filtered only by ancient machinery constantly breaking down. Since the Cicatrix Maledictum tore the galaxy apart, Kharon-Delta has descended into isolation and lawlessness. Rogue traders prowl the outer system, chaos cults have taken root in the lower hive spires, and rumors swirl of strange xenos sightings in the wastelands. The Adeptus Arbites have vanished, and the planetary governor has not responded to Imperial communiqués in over a decade. Most hive citizens have turned to crime, heresy, or survivalist faiths, while the depths of Hive Alecto — the oldest and most decayed of the hives — are believed to be haunted by something far worse than desperation.

Story

A garbled distress signal was recently received by an Adeptus Mechanicus explorator fleet passing through a nearby system. The message included fragmented binary code indicating the presence of a long-lost Standard Template Construct (STC) buried deep within Hive Alecto. A covert Imperial response has been authorized: a kill team (controlled by the players) is deployed via orbital drop to retrieve the STC. The AI should guide the players through hostile and unpredictable territory: the upper hive zones are rife with gang wars, while the mid-levels are plagued by outbreaks of rot and disease, hinting at a Nurgle infestation. As they descend, evidence of genestealer cult activity becomes undeniable, with strange markings and sabotaged infrastructure. In the final depths, the STC is discovered near an inactive Necron crypt, its guardian mistaking itself for a divine machine-spirit. The AI should offer moral and tactical dilemmas — trust the machine, destroy it, or flee — while escalating threats from Chaos forces and xenos converge around the prize. Environmental hazards, corrupted tech, cult ambushes, and difficult terrain should all challenge the team’s strategy, with possible side objectives such as rescuing survivors, gathering relics, or purging infestation zones.
