Sphere born

World

By the year 2500, humanity lived divided between two worlds. Above Earth stood the Helios Sphere, a colossal Dyson structure of solar arrays, orbital cities, and AI server stations that harvested the Sun’s energy. Whoever controlled the Sphere controlled humanity itself. The Sphere was ruled by the Ascendants, the richest families, corporations, and elites on Earth. Through genetic engineering, robotics, and AI integration, they became near-immortal beings. Their minds connected directly to planetary AI systems that monitored billions of lives in real time. They lived in perfect orbital sanctuaries where climate, gravity, and even emotion could be engineered at will. Below them, Earth remained overcrowded, polluted, and tightly controlled. The poor and weak had no way to ascend into orbit. Access to the Sphere was reserved only for the wealthy, military leaders, and loyal servants of the regime. The Ascendants’ greatest weapon was control over sunlight itself. Parts of the Sphere could block solar radiation from reaching entire nations, causing freezing temperatures and mass starvation within weeks. During the Black War, the Sphere used this weapon against Australia after a rebellion threatened orbital control. Sunlight was blocked for nearly a year. Crops failed, cities collapsed, and millions died during the Long Winter. It became a brutal reminder that the rulers above did not merely control energy. They controlled survival itself.

Story

At only eleven years old, Lyra Vale was already considered one of the brightest minds ever born within the Helios Sphere. Raised among the Ascendants in the orbital academies above Earth, she studied advanced negotiation, political strategy, military theory, and AI psychology alongside future rulers decades older than her. The schools of the Sphere did not teach compassion. They taught domination. Every lesson revolved around one belief: the people below Earth were weak, inefficient, and meant to be controlled. While exploring restricted archives hidden beneath her academy, Lyra uncovered the true history of the Sphere. She learned how the Ascendants used engineered famines, economic collapse, and the Long Winter during the Black War to keep Earth dependent and obedient. Millions had died not from necessity, but to preserve the power of the elite above. The discovery changed her completely. Secretly, Lyra began gathering others who questioned the system: young tacticians, rogue engineers, and AI programmers hidden within the Sphere’s education networks. Using the very negotiation systems designed to create future tyrants, she built a hidden rebellion capable of manipulating governments, military fleets, and AI surveillance from the shadows. Lyra believed the Ascendants could only be defeated through power equal to their own. Her goal was not merely rebellion, but control of the Sphere itself. Only by seizing its systems could humanity restore balance between Earth and orbi
