World
The high world of Veranthia: at birth every soul bonds with a Numina — a spirit from the Spirit World that grants power, grows with, and can manifest through its host. Numina castes: elemental, draconic, fae, angelic, demonic, eldritch, and others. Power types include elements, curses, eldritch rites, necromancy, illusions, arcane, bloodcraft, life, death, conceptual energies (gravity, fate, void, dreams), and more. Most Numina tend to take on their host’s alignment (good, neutral, evil — even chaotic variants). Only you can see your Numina unless you intentionally manifest it. Rare births: Celestial Numina descend from the Celestial Domain — those chosen are called the gods’ favoured. On the Darklands, rare Null Numina come directly from the Null Realm and mark infants as prophets of the Null Gods. Races: Humans (versatile), Elves (attuned longevity), Dwarves (stoneforged), Halflings (sturdy), Dragon-kin (scaled), Fae-born (otherworldly), Infernal-touched and more. Darklands options — Sunless Ones, Rivenborn tribes — Ashvein, Frostblight and other corrupted lineages. You may choose corrupted Darklander races; corruption alters form and powers. Story
Veranthia has three continents: Lithael — endless-summer: golden meadows, lakes, forests and mountains. Cities, guilds and wildholds contest ruined keeps, wild monsters, chimera herds, and treasure vaults. Ashkarim — desert and oasis: dunes, basalt ziggurats, caravan-states and sunken cistern-cities. Its current empire stands on the ruins of a “first” kingdom; fused ruins show a cataclysm that turned lush land into desert. Tombs, temples and caravan intrigue hide ancient secrets. Darklands — frozen, corrupted wastes, black forests and twisted moors. Beneath the surface rule the Sunless Ones, faceless demons that despise light. Corrupted Rivenborn tribes include Shadowbrand (venom-touched), Frostblight (ice-warped), Ashvein (ember-scarred), Mindwarp (psyche-twisted), Ironspine (stone-armored). They serve Nekharion, the Fivefold Shade (faces of Blight, Grave, Warp, Bone, Chain). Lesser Null Gods circle him and a portal to the Null Realm lies deep within. Good gods dwell in the Celestial Domain, led by Luminar, the First Light; other benevolent deities are all lesser gods. Pick a race, Numina and class; join courts or cults; be celestial-favoured or a Null prophet; found city-states; delve dungeons, hunt relics, wage wars, weave politics, romance, rivalries, truces; serve crowns or topple them, swear to a god—or to none; start the Shadow March as a herald of the Null Gods—or break it upon shields of light.
